GIBIDI 20 Nm Ø45 mm battery tubular motor for roller shutters and awnings

The GIBIDI GBD-EWSETND4520BB BATTERY BIDI 20/10 is a Ø45 mm battery tubular motor designed for the motorisation of roller shutters and rolling awnings, particularly useful when a permanent power supply is not available near the window or door.

Compared with the Ø25 and Ø35 motors in the same range, this model provides considerably higher torque and is intended for more demanding applications. GIBIDI specifies a rated torque of 20 Nm and a maximum weight of 35 kg.

The 20 Nm torque allows this model to be used for heavier applications than the BATTERY BIDI 1.1/28 and 6/24 motors. In the GIBIDI brochure, the 20/10 is shown both installed on a roller shutter and on a rolling awning.

Battery motor for roller shutters without a direct electrical connection

The distinguishing feature of the GIBIDI BATTERY BIDI system is the built-in battery.

The motor therefore does not require a permanent direct electrical connection for normal operation. This solution is particularly useful for automating existing roller shutters and sun protection systems where no power supply was installed near the roller shutter box.

GIBIDI states that the range provides up to 18 months of automatic operation. The battery can be recharged using a dedicated charger, and charge maintenance can also be performed using a compatible solar panel.

It is therefore possible to create a motorised system while reducing the need for new wiring and work on the building's electrical system.

The GBD-EWSETND4520BB uses a tubular motor body with a diameter of 45 mm and develops a rated torque of 20 Nm.

GIBIDI specifies a maximum weight of 35 kg for this model.

This value must be considered the maximum limit specified by the manufacturer and not as a universal lifting capacity: when selecting a tubular motor, the characteristics of the roller shutter or awning, the winding diameter, the tube used and the mechanical configuration of the installation must also be taken into account.

Despite the higher torque compared with the smaller models in the range, the length specified by GIBIDI is 658 mm.

Radio receiver and bidirectional communication

The motor features an integrated radio receiver and uses the GIBIDI bidirectional system.

The range brochure indicates compatibility with GIBIDI control systems BRICK, WALL, SEAN and WSEAN, as well as the KUMO WiFi system.

Having the receiver directly inside the motor makes it possible to create a radio control system without adding a separate external receiver.

Electronic limit switch

The GBD-EWSETND4520BB is equipped with an electronic limit switch, another feature highlighted by GIBIDI for the BATTERY BIDI system.

The system allows the movement stop positions to be managed electronically, avoiding traditional mechanical limit switches.

IP44 protection

Unlike the BATTERY BIDI Ø25 and Ø35 models, which are specified in the brochure with an IP20 protection rating, the 20 Nm model features an IP44 protection rating.

This feature makes it more suitable for the typical conditions of the applications intended by the manufacturer, provided that the installation and system protection comply with GIBIDI specifications.

Mounting bracket included and adapters to be selected

The motor is supplied complete with mounting bracket.

The adapters for the roller tube must instead be selected according to the application. There is no single adapter suitable for all roller shutter and awning tubes.

The adapters must therefore be requested separately, specifying the type and dimensions of the roller tube or the application on which the motor will be installed.

This check is particularly important when the GBD-EWSETND4520BB is used to motorise an existing roller shutter.

Recharging and solar panel
